Fan Types and Configurations

Alloy Engineering designs and manufactures high-temperature fans and blowers in a range of configurations to meet the demands of industrial furnace and process environments:

Fan Type Description & Typical Applications
Centrifugal Fans Most common for high-temperature recirculation in belt furnaces, box furnaces, and kilns. Available in radial, backward-curved, and forward-curved blade designs depending on pressure and volume requirements.
Axial Fans Used for high-volume, lower-pressure airflow in heat treating and atmosphere-controlled furnace applications. Suitable for continuous service at elevated temperatures.
High-Temperature Blowers Designed for forced-air applications in process environments where operating temperatures exceed 1000°F. Alloy construction required to prevent warping, oxidation, and blade erosion at extreme heat.
Induced Draft Fans Used to pull exhaust gases through furnace systems. Critical in combustion environments where standard steel construction would fail prematurely.

Materials and Construction

Standard carbon steel and stainless steel fans fail quickly in high-temperature furnace environments due to oxidation, creep, and thermal fatigue. Alloy Engineering fabricates fan wheels, housings, and shafts from high-nickel alloys rated for continuous service at temperatures that standard fans cannot withstand.

Alloy Grade Max Temp Best For
309 / 310 Stainless ~1900°F General heat treating and annealing furnaces; cost-effective entry point for high-temp fan applications
330 (RA330) ~2100°F Atmosphere furnaces and carburizing environments; excellent oxidation and thermal shock resistance
Alloy 600 / 601 ~2100–2200°F Hydrogen atmosphere and high-pressure furnace environments; superior oxidation resistance
Cast Heat-Resistant Alloys ~2200°F+ Extreme-duty applications; cast alloy fan wheels resist creep at sustained high temperatures where wrought alloys deform

Alloy Engineering also provides industrial fan repair services for existing fans that have warped, cracked, or lost balance — often a faster and more cost-effective option than full replacement.
