Snow White – Dye Penetrant Testing 310 Stainless Steel

“Snow white! That’s what I want to see… You guys have the procedures and you know what you’re doing with this material.” That’s high praise from a customer’s QC Inspector after recently witnessing Alloy Engineering’s welding and root-pass dye-penetrant testing of several SS310 fabrications. By “Snow-white” the inspector is referring to the test developer, which indicated no weld cracks. The physical properties that make SS310 resist oxidation at elevated temperatures often cause hot-cracks during welding. Alloy Engineering takes care in selecting the correct weld prep procedure to make sure our SS310 welds are right the first time. Pictured is a  ¾” thick SS310 plate weld undergoing DT testing to ASME standards. Contact Alloy Engineering the next time you need SS310 or any other high-temperature / corrosion resistant alloy welded & fabricated.
